Lacewings in the Bend of Islands

The Bend Of Islands (BOI) is an area of outstanding biodiversity, and so it is rich in invertebrate fauna, including Lacewings.

Frank Pierce is a local resident who has been recording the Lacewing of the BOI for several years. They are sometimes seen when walking in the bush, but can be more easily recorded at night because the majority of species are attracted to light.

Frank is a member of Round the Bend Conservation Cooperative (Co-op) which is a property located in the northern area of the Bend of Islands. He has recorded 40+ species on the Co-op. Many of these species have been recorded by Frank and other observers in other parts of the BOI, but there are no known records of any species, additional to those on Frank’s list, being recorded in the BOI.

The Co-op has a webpage documenting general information about Lacewings with a link to the current Lacewing List. This can be accessed here
